Authentic, original Christianity is odd and at odds with the world it loves. What a statement! But in a similar way, I believe this is what Jesus is proclaiming here. God of the universe, God of the atom, is infinitely determined to free us from that which keeps us from loving him, others, and ourselves. In the face of all that keeps me from loving you, from loving God, I am at odds with the ways of this world. I am grateful for that because in that oddness, I have discovered a peace, a hope, a love that knows no boundaries. My song for today is this odd piece titled Breathe Deep the Breath of God. It allows me to think about all the people God loves in this world. Some of them are offensive to me, but still, God loves me. Lord, today I thank you for being you.
