Unscheduled power cuts continue in Bhadarwah BHADARWAH NOV5:---Ahead of approaching winter , unscheduled and extended power cuts have started aggravating the woes of Bhadarwah. Both urban and rural areas in the Bhadarwah have started witnessing sharp increase in frequent energy cuts putting the consumers to huge inconvenience. The pesky power cuts triggered protests in several localities in the Bhadarwah during past two weeks and the situation is worse in rural areas. Residents of Bhadarwah are up in arms against the Power Development Department as they are facing unscheduled power cuts.Locals here said: “The department doesnt adhere to the schedule due to which the students preparing for examination are facing hardships.” They added that when PDD installed meters in their areas they were told that they would get power supply round the clock, but their promises turned out to be a hoax.Residents of Bhadarwah complained that power plays hide and seek and during night hours the supply goes off for hours together. “Unscheduled power cuts have become order of the day and students are the worst sufferers” they said However the helmsmen of Power Development Department (PDD) seem to be least bothered about the inconvenience being faced by the people during the winter months. This is in spite of the fact that Chief Minister, who is also holding the Power portfolio had directed the administration to ensure better delivery of services to avoid any inconvenience to the people during the months of winter and also asked the PDD authorities to stick to the scheduled power curtailment . District President National Panthers Party Neeraj Manhas has accused the PDD authorities of Jammu and Udhampur of turning a Nelsons eye towards their grievance of Bhaderwah despite repeated requests to them to ensure frequent unscheduled power cuts during the winter. Manhas alleged that officers in PDD department are always doing step motherly treatment with the people of Bhaderwah and said that the state government has made the commitment that 24 hours power will be supplied in the areas where there will be metering and now when there is 100 per cent metering in Bhaderwah the power cuts extend from 10 to 15 hours due to the discrimination with Bhadrwah people by the PDD officers and this is the main reason behind unscheduled power cuts, he alleged . He said if PDD department does not mends its way, people of the area have no other option but to hold protest and take law and order in their hands.
