Unspeakable tragedy coming out of Arizona. Please send your thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, and co-workers of the Granite Mountain Hotshot Crew, all 19 of whom lost their lives fighting the Yarnell fire tonight. And if you have any left over, the residents of the lovely town of Yarnell could use your thoughts and prayers too as they experience the loss of their homes and belongings. Not as devastating as the sacrifice made by the firefighters, but tragic nonetheless. Yarnell was a pleasant town up in the trees just past the desert along highway 89/89A--by far my favorite highway in Arizona. Starting in the old Western town of Wickenburg, 89/89A winds up and down the hills past Yarnell, then through the iconic Arizona towns and cities of Prescott, Jerome, Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, Flagstaff (my favorite Arizona city), and then on up to Lake Powell. A beautiful road now scarred by devastation and tragedy.
