Until 1930, the legendary Bentley racing cars completely dominated the Grand Prix at Le Mans. Under the scheme of colors established in 1902, for the prestigious Gordon Bennett Cup, each country that was competing had an assigned color. Since Britains national colors of red, white, and blue had already been taken, (by teams from the USA, Germany, and France) the British team chose green as their racing livery. The result was the color now known as British Racing Green, or BRG for short. Therefore, naturally, the dominating Bentleys were all painted BRG. The Bentley Motors T Chronograph, made by Breitling, features a satin-brushed bezel, reminiscent of the gauges on especially sporting Bentley motorcars. The three subdials also feature chromed steel bezels from the prestigious dashboards of the same cars. Especially unusual in the world of chronographs, the movement uses a 30-second chronograph system that will time events to a very precise 1/8 of a second. The watch also has something unique in a variable tachometer system that lets you calculate average speed over any distance or time. On the caseback, you will see engravings of thee of the most legendary Bentley automobiles, the Speed 6, the R-type Continental, and the Continental GT. So, back to the story of BRG. For the 1902 Gordon Bennett Cup race, motor racing was illegal at the time in England, so they held the race in Ireland, which was part of the UK at the time. In respect to the hosts, the British cars were again painted shamrock green, and the color scheme stuck. The Bentley cars went on to dominate, wearing the BRG paint scheme, and the color became as legendary as the cars.
