Until full telepathic union is possible Humans are forced to rely on the clumsy art-forms/tools of language and a range of visual media to communicate to each other at all. Spoken language needs to be supplemented by hand and body movement, eye contact and variety of facial expression to be in any way effective for subtle maters, as we all now know from email disasters. Our ‘true’ emotions are communicated non-verbally and clearly in active speech. Language is considered full of vague terms with multi meanings. Visual art is yet more slippery, but influences behavior more than language. That young people are not taught to be aware of the power of imagery is a crime, and in particular in the chaotic visual bombardments of the TV , magazine and advertising & Politics We are obliged to make important decisions based on our taste, and our sense of what is and has beauty has moral, cultural, political and religious elements. It becomes an extremely practical matter when we consider our ideas and beliefs on what we feel is Good or Bad, Evil, Unjust, Criminal, Saintly and worth killing or dying for comes from our sense of Beauty. The suicide bomber considers his sacrifice the most beautiful act, and love of a Noble death, aesthetic. For this reason the powerful have always tried to restrict and control the aesthetic sense as one would any other dangerous weapon. Heroic resistance is encouraged as beautiful against outsiders but not the police! Our quality of taste and beauty in its full sense determines our quality of life and permeates all we do. When Art as a persuasive force, having the magic ability to bestow beauty, then Art is irresistible power !
