Until recently, I very much enjoyed taking the little ferry that runs across from Tuen Mun in the Northwestern New Territories to Tung Chung on Lantau Island and on along the coast to the little fishing village of Tai O. That coastline is gorgeous and rugged, and reminds me of pictures of Norwegian fjords. The last time I went, I was thoroughly depressed to see all the barges, pilings and dredging for the bridge to Zhuhai and Macau. Ive decided not to take that ferry anymore. That beautiful area is a total write-off now, for no good reason. We need that bridge and more visitors like we need a kick in the head. Its just the Hong Kong government kowtowing to pressure from Beijing.
