Until recently, if you asked me about my heritage, I would have been able to rattle off a list of countries that my family comes from, yet I couldnt tell you too much about what they represent, or what they mean to me. I have, however, become increasingly aware of how important it is to know where youre from in order to build a sense of belonging and ownership of yourself. I like to think I have a pretty damn good idea of who I am, and what I represent, but tomorrow Ill be delving headfirst back into my fathers culture - and I feel like, for the first time, Im going to really have my eyes open, so that I can learn, grow, and have a freaking AMAZING holiday!!! :-D
