Until this morning, this little escape artist has been seen in several rooms of our house this last week and has avoided being captured. Hes stolen cheese out of a non-lethal mouse trap twice and from a lethal mouse trap three times. We call him Ratatouille. Two nights ago we caught him inside the non-lethal trap inside Sharnas room. It ate the cheese and was in the process of chewing itw way out of the trap. It was very late so I got a large jar and the plan was to release him into the jar (vented) and then take him to a field in the morning. However when I put the trap down into the jar and opened the end so hed fall in, he slid out, hit the bottom of the glass and immediately leapt up and out of the jar before I could even blink!. He raced across the counter, leapt off the counter onto the dining room floor, acted like a pinball machine zipping back and forth a few times under the chairs until it disappeared. During this time, Sharna let out a blood-curdling scream that probably woke most of the neighbors (because she was sure the little 3-long rodent was going to...what? Eat her? Her scream made Kyler scream and I was certain the screaming was caused by the rodent sinking its huge fangs into the toes of my children, why else would they scream like that? We spent an hour blocking in the dining room area and searching for it but never found it. SO...this morning Sharna announced that the mouse was caught but chewed a hole in the side of the trap and escaped! After she left, Karen heard and funny noise and made me come downstairs because the mouse hadnt escaped, it was still in the trap! So I scooped it up, put the trap in a small box and walked to a vacant lot next to the golf course near our house. THIS is the video of its release! Run Ratatouille! Be free!
