Unusually high temperatures for spring are expected this weekend - It would be a good idea to postpone any planned burnoffs: (From the Bureau of Meteorology) Land Gales and Unusual Heat Across South Australia The Bureau of Meteorology advises that damaging winds and unusually high temperatures are forecast to affect much of the State overnight Saturday and during Sunday. Early Sunday morning periods of gale force northerly winds in excess of 63km/h, and peak gusts of 90 to 110 km/h, are expected to affect much of the State, particularly across the agricultural areas. The northerly winds will cause unusually high maximum temperatures for September. A vigorous cold front moves across South Australia on Sunday. Dry, strong to gale force northerly winds ahead of the front will be replaced by fresh to strong southwesterly winds. The front is expected to move across western districts during the morning and reach eastern districts in the evening. Little rainfall is likely with the front. Dry lightning is possible over Kangaroo Island and the South East districts. Maximum temperatures will reach near 30 degrees in the south and mid 30s in the north. The strength of the northerly winds may result in damage. Activities on coasts will be impacted by strong to gale force offshore winds.
