Unwinding from long drive across canadian midwest. Saw lots of big skies. Lots of wheat and other stuff being harvested. Lots of migratory birds. Canadian geese. Go figure. At one point for 45 minutes we were the only car i saw going in either direction. My impression was of how small and fleeting our individual human experience is. That big sky makes you feel small. At the same time, you could see how humans as a group were shaping all the landscapes i were seeing. The fields just were endless. 90% of the land was either being used for growing something or occasionally raising cattle. Only a handful of places seemed to be natural but maybe thats just cause i havent figued out how they were shaped by humans yet. Tmrw. I get a day off. Going fishing.
