Up & Coming Dates to Lock Down to support Matawaia Marae Whanau. Feb 20th @ 6pm we are holding a whanaungatanga pot luck nite at the marae. We invite all our local whanau to rally together to form Matawaia Marae Working Committee who will be responsible for the daily running of our marae. Now that we have secured $300k for stage 2 - Our Utilities Block, we need to recruit new whanau to ensure that our facilities are in order for when whanau make bookings. Roles and responsibilities will be discussed and shared at the meeting. We need your support urgently, please bring along something to share for kai and some positive korero. Nau mai haere mai. A combined Te Reo Wananga for Matawaia & Otiria Marae. This wananga is run by Te Awanuiarangi and will run over several weekends. We will be enrolling 35 students per marae so be in quick. The classes will be for Beginners/ Those with some Reo/ and Those who are Fluent. These will be held at Otiria Marae and the first wananga will begin on March 28-30th. Hangi Fundraiser @ Motown Street Warz 19-20th April 2014 - Again we will be fundraising during the Motown Streetwarz this year by selling hangi, and having a seafood table. Any koha of kai eg. bag of butter, hangi bags, riwai, kumara, pumpkin, miti, stuffing etc towards the hangi stall would be greatly appreciated, and further information can be found by contacting Astor Toia.
