Up-Date from Papa(Wednesday a.m.) GREAT NEWS !!!!!! Praise God !!!! The MRI was negative for any CANcer re- growth and there is still No Evidence of Disease in the area of his Pelvis. Dr.Olson Austins Oncologist thinks he might have a slightly torn muscle or tendon near the top of his thigh which may have been weakened by the radiation therefore making it more subjective to injury. He will consult with the Ortho Doctors and come up with a plan to effectively treat this situation and also preventive measures for future activities and possibly therapy to strengthen that area as well. It looks like Austin may get to go back home to McDonough today unless there is a need to stay one more day for tests or more specific scans of his upper thigh and pelvis. We give all the Praise and Glory to our God for this GOOD NEWS and we know healing is just a matter of time and this small bump in the road will be done for good....and then continue to move forward with LIFE without CANcer for Austin!!!! CANcer treatment causes residual issues that effect these children long after their initial treatments are over.Chemotherapy destroys healthy cells ...Radiation destroys healthy cells and Bone Marrow production along with associated tissues of the surrounding treatment areas.....skin,muscle,tendons ligaments, all are affected in severely negative ways for some time ...years after the initial treatment. There has to be a less evasive protocol developed to isolate CANcer cells and destroy them and not all the healthy cells and tissue along with it........Better yet there needs to be a CURE found for all CANcers to eradicate it once and for all !!!! OK...off the Soapbox...lol....Thanks so much for your Prayers and Support....we know there are a few more days before Austin will get back to walking painlessly but he will get there...that is the main thing to rejoice about!! As a side issue...I saw Nikki...Jasons Mom this morning. Jason is the sweetest little man....a toddler who is fighting for his life because of a relapse due to AML Acute Myeloid Leukemia. We met Jason and his family when Austin first got diagnosed and became buddies with him very quickly as he was going through Chemo for his first time too. He was NED for a short while but unfortunately relapsed and is not doing well but all hope has not been lost,as a earlier prognosis was given to the family. God is performing Miracles in this sweet childs body and Jason is a STRONG FIGHTER with a STRONG Family!!!Please Pray for them and this adorable little guy....go to /Facebook/Team Jason Strong for more details. Be Blessed and Pass it On!!!
