Bruce Marshall Two months to the day after the shootings in Knoxville, at a UU Church , I was in that city to take a temporary position as consulting minister to the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. My job was to help the congregation work through the trauma that had resulted. What did I learn from my involvement in that extraordinary situation? Most of us at one time or another in our lives encounter trauma. Might there be lessons from Knoxville that help when our worlds come under attack? February 9: Behind the Kitchen Door Rev. Bruce Marshall Each year the Unitarian Universalist Asso- ciation encourages congregations to focus on a specific book that raises issues of concern. This year’s “common read” brings to light conditions faced by those employed in the restaurant industry, the nation’s second largest private sector work- force. The book invites us “behind the kitchen door” to consider the challenges faced by those who serve restaurant meals to us. February 16: Share the Love Sunday Rev. Bruce Marshall We conclude this year’s observation of 30 Days of Love by recognizing those in our congre- gation and in our community who have exerted leadership toward helping create the Beloved Community. We will present our first ever “Courageous Love” awards to people who have shown what it is to advocate for a society grounded in our UU affirmation of human worth and dignity. We will also consider how we all might share the love. February 23: I Am Enough: Bringing Worth and Dignity Back Home. Guest Speaker: Debbie Cole Debbie Cole is a Unitarian Universalist Minister with a Master of Divinity degree from Meadville Lombard Theological School. She is a licensed pilot and certified diver who seeks adventure from within. As an accredited T’ai Chi Chi instructor, she finds peace in her T’ai Chi Chih practice as well as from other forms of meditation
