Up date on my sister Gwen Craig. As some know on Wednesday her - TopicsExpress

Up date on my sister Gwen Craig. As some know on Wednesday her phosphorus and Potassium levels were high indicating decreasing kidney function. Also the respirator was increased to 100%. They gave lasix and urine output was not bad but no change in kidneys ability to filter. On Thursday she was dealing with one lung 40% collapsed, clot in one lung and pneumonia. Also on dialysis. They gave her a paralytic agent so her body would be still, all the machines could do the work and maybe with rest she could improve. The lung problems were already there but at first respirator was able to be turned down, it looked like they might be able to do a tracheotomy for the respirator and her be transferred to the Acute Care Rehab hosp. By Thrursday it seemed the lungs were worse, the resp turned up to max. Today the hosp called her son Tony Taylor and wife Amber to come sign a DNR. (do not resuscitate order) They said nothing they were doing is making a difference with the lungs and with the kidney failure they had no more options. This is not what any of us want to hear but I wanted to let everyone know.
