Up later than usual last night, not celebrating with the Super Bowl revelers, but watching a film on cable, remembering a chat Id had with Phillip Seymour Hoffman on the last movie set I worked on in 1999. State and Main, directed by David Mamet, had an incredible cast…Alec Baldwin, Sarah Jessica Parker, William H. Macy, Charles Durning(!)... providing me with some great showbiz anecdotes for my as yet unwritten memoir. I engaged Phillip in conversation (as those with the Hopper surname are wont to do) at the craft services table, where he hung out with those of us who had no personal trailer. He was kinda shy and tousled, vulnerable but accessible, an actors actor.
