Up to 100 jobs are to be created with the expansion of three companies in Dublin, Cork and Laois. In Cork, a technical security company AlienVault said it will take on 40 new workers for highly skilled roles in the coming year. The US-based company is establishing a sales and technical support centre in the city, where it already employs 12 people in sales, tech support and management. Barmak Meftah, president of AlienVault, said the firm, which has its headquarters in California, was looking to tap into the immense tech talent Ireland has to offer. Jobs Minister Richard Bruton added: “This will create 40 highly skilled jobs for the Cork region and their decision to commit to Ireland is a testament to the highly skilled workforce here and another example of a company having the confidence to build their business out of Ireland.” Independent News and Media has vowed to take on 40 new staff in Dublin as part of an investment in its digital services. The publisher, which prints the Irish Independent, The Evening Herald and Sunday Independent, is seeking multimedia designers, product managers, mobile engineers, technical and sales staff. Fiona O’Carroll, INM’s digital managing director, said they are looking for more digital risk takers to help grow the company. “This is an exciting digital journey at INM and I am looking forward to the contribution our future colleagues will bring,” she added. Separately, Mr Bruton TD welcomed the creation of 20 jobs at a lead generation services company Internal Results in Portlaoise. The firm provides services to some of the world’s leading technology and telecommunications companies including Cisco, McAfee, Cognizant, Verint, CNET and 02. Noel Hooban, Internal Results’ director of delivery, said state funding was a key factor in the company expanding its operations in Ireland. “It is a big vote of confidence in Portlaoise that we are now expanding our company here,” he said. “To other new and emerging companies I would say: Consider Portlaoise, not only is there a strong skills base to tap into but you can benefit from more competitive rates for property outside of Dublin and Cork. “Infrastructure, including the roads network, is excellent too.”
