Up to a certain point, I considered myself a Democrat because of the two options I was told were available, I knew I wasnt a Republican. I still vote for a lot of Democrats*, but if presented with a candidate who espoused ideas that make more sense than the ideas of any of the other candidates in the race, I will vote for a candidate from any party. For a rough approximation of where I stand on economic inequality, drug policy, and political theater, please now turn your attention to Russell Brand, standup comedian, actor, ex-heroin junkie, writer, and legendary cocksman. In short, an all round fantastic human being. I differ with him mainly in that I do believe that voting is essential. The problem lately has been the quality of our candidates (due mainly to the fact that campaigns are expensive, so people with big bank balances get into office more often than do people with big ideas). * The moral of the story, as can be seen in Southparks Giant Douche vs. Turd Sandwich episode, is that when the choices suck, the outcome of elections are going to suck. The financial barrier to entry into politics is way too high. Unlimited corporate donations means that if you have rich friends, you can drown out the voice of your political adversaries with your ads, simply by reaching more eyeballs than they can afford to reach. That aint no kind of democracy I ever heard of.
