Up to number 3 on my list of favourite albums of the year. Frankly anyone of my top 3 could have been number one at one point or another this year and it was difficult to chose between them. At 3 though is Ty Segall with his album Manipulator. Whats not to like about this record? Bluesy stones riffs, trippy Californian psych and garage rock jams combine to make this Ty Segalls best effort to date. Temples seem to take all the plaudits this year for their take on the 60 psych sound, but for me this feels much more authentic and is such a joy from start to finish. Keeping the quality up over 17 tracks is no mean feat but there are no duff tracks on this record.
