Upcoming Events: Banyule City Council- Home Harvest Feast 2014 – What are you going to grow? Sun 16 March | 12:15PM - 12:00AM Venue: Withers Way, Eltham 3095 Cost: Free Home Harvest Feast 2014 We are looking for volunteers to grow and supply the produce for the Home Harvest Feast 2014 on Sunday 16 March 2014 to be held at Eltham High School. The Home Harvest Feast is a celebration of home grown produce and local food. All growers are invited to celebrate in the harvest and the joys of local food by sharing a delicious community meal created by trained cooks using your home or community-grown produce. Register to grow and supply the produce for the Home Harvest Feast. Then spend the summer growing the produce and donate some to the Feast in return for your tickets. You can attend the Feast in March 2014 and going on past experience enjoy a delicious meal and great day! Become a Grower for the Home Harvest Feast Grower registration To sign up as a Grower for the Home Harvest Feast complete the registration form and get growing! No matter your level of experience or how green your fingers are, everyone is invited to take part and get growing. What to grow All types of produce are welcome. If you are growing something different or exotic please let us know when registering. If youre a little stuck, here are some suggestions of what you could grow - zucchini, eggplant, tomato, capsicum, silverbeet, carrot, pumpkin, cucumber, beets, lettuce greens and herbs. Produce drop-off will take place in the week leading up to the Feast. You will receive your ticket for the Feast when you drop off your produce off. A good way to work out how much produce to donate is to think of a quantity that would feed you and your guests. Getting started If you are new to growing there are some great resources available to help you: the Home Harvest booklet (4.55MB) - how to grow your own delicious fresh food. If you would like a hard copy Harvest Month The Home Harvest Feast sits within a calendar of Harvest Month events. As a Grower you will also receive exclusive details on workshops, food swaps and special events taking place. The full program is being coordinated by Local Food Connect will be available on the Local Food Connect website early 2014.
