Update - Day 147 Yesterday dad experienced a major setback. He received a blood transfusion Sunday that caused his lungs filled up with fluid (obviously causing him breathing difficulties) so they had to put them back on the ventilator. At that time he had been off the ventilator for over two weeks, he had also began speech therapy and swallow evaluations leading up to possibly getting fruit juices and soft food. He was also getting ready to be moved this week down to the rehabilitation floor for daily occupational, speech, and physical therapy. Now hes back to square one again. Hes still in the ICU and they are coming up with new plans to start the weening process immediately. We will hear more about that later today. As far as the MRI goes the results came back inconclusive on his back. They now want to do a spinal tap as well as a MRI on his brain. We are hoping there will be some more answers and remedies on his legs later this week. Dad will continue to receive physical therapy at a wheelchair level until they find out more. He was thankfully resting pretty good yesterday. There are some incredible nurses and doctors on that floor. I have no doubt that they will get him back on track in no time.
