Update: 08-11-14: 10:30 am Good morning, just got up and getting ready to go to work, got home last night about 2 am, barely! Was falling asleep all the way, but I made it! Just want to thank my Manager, Todd White and owner Bob Gajeske for being there for Patrick and I during this time. Because of their support it has allowed me to be Patrick and help him through this life changing transition! On another note, Patrick and I were running around the TIRR rehab center yesterday and ran into a mother who just had a son admitted to TIRR. He was a becoming a senior in HS from San Antonio area, had a diving accident and shattered his C5 exactly like Patrick, so I asked the mom if we could go talk to him to give him some encouragement, she loved the idea, so I told Patrick .. Lets do this! He did not want to because he thought we would be intruding, he was rolling his eyes around and keep saying no dad, but i insisted and said no we ARE doing this! So we went down to 4th floor and knocked on the door, they (the family), all looked at us wondering what were doing there, and I proceeded to introduced myself and Patrick and told them that I just spoke with the mom who explained to me what happened to her son. When I saw him ( the young man),you could tell his spirit was totally gone and he was in bad depression, so I told him him he has no choice but to put in Gods hands and pray! I told him once he does that, let God do his work and know he will make it better with time. Then i said see how my 13 yr old sons spirit is, he knows God is in control and God is using him for a bigger purpose, Patricks got his big grin going on and they started asking him questions! So anyways, the moral to the story is that we blessed someone that day who lost all hope and we refreshed his spirit with Patricks big smile, strength and positive attitude! We shared the importance of putting life in Gods hands, praying and working hard for recovery! That family was SO thankful we stopped by!!! They were crying when we left, but they got a serious injection of hope, faith and why you put your trust in God, because they saw a younger 13 yr old boy, having the same exact injury, full of hope, determination, great attitude and strength! When we left Patrick said, dad that was a really good idea! Patrick saw that he can make a huge difference in peoples lives! Thats my new future goal / mission in life now! Father son tag team! Have a great day, thought I would share that story!
