Update 10/10 Today was a great day! I came home to a bunch of kids hanging out with Jake in the driveway and it was so cute when a couple of our younger neighbors realized he was home and ran up and hugged him. He came home yesterday but we pretty much went directly inside and then right to Emilys game so today was really the first day that everyone could catch up with him. Jamie, Jake and I went to HRMS today to talk about the plan for Jakes return to school. It was decided by the Levine teacher, us, and the nurse and counselor at HRMS that he would try to return to half days starting Monday. We realize that this might be a bit ambitious but the plan that is written up is very flexible and everything is based on how he is doing day by day, so if he decided that after and hour or two that he has had enough, we can come pick him up. He will go in the afternoon on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and in the morning on Tuesday and Thursday. He will have a lot of modifications and he will have a buddy that will help him get from class to class. He will leave classes early so that he can get to where he needs to be. Our only concern was his band class...we thought maybe playing an instrument might give him a headache with the concussion, but he is going to go to class at least (not play the instrument) and see how he handles the noise level. If that does not work out well, he will have a study hall during that time. So, the plan is in place...we just need to see how it comes together. Next week will be another crazy week for us...Jamie is traveling for two days and Jake has appointments on Thursday and Friday in addition to school. I am also back to work, but will be taking a bit of time off next week in order to attend the appointments with Jake and to get him back and forth to school when Jamie is gone. The meals everyone has brought have been a lifesaver for us and we appreciate everyone who has signed up for Take Them A Meal. The gift cards have been very helpful as well. Again, thank you all so much for supporting our family during this time. I know I say it all the time, but I just dont know how else to express our gratitude to you all!! We are looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home. =) Please dont forget to sign the petition that we have going around the neighborhoods. Mine is in my mailbox at 905 Elrond Dr. so come by and sign!! If anyone was at the scene of the accident that night and knows the names of the two nurses who were leaving the game (not on duty) that stopped to care for Jacob while they waited for the ambulance, will you please have them message me. I would really like to be in touch with them, but dont know who they even are. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!!!
