Update: 10/20/14 Tom continues to get stronger with each passing day. He now weighs 175 pounds. (He was close to 250 prior to the accident!). We are finally finished with Diapers!! So happy for him! He is just now starting to know why hes in the hospital. Although some days he thinks hes there because hes dying! Its so heartbreaking for me when he gets that in his head. I show him pictures of himself and tell him daily why hes there. He may get both the trachea and feeding tube out this week! Keeping our fingers crossed! He has both stomach and intestinal issues and Im hoping that once they stop the liquid nutrition, that his issues improve. He also drunks liquids that are thickened ( its called Nectar). I think these drinks are also adding to his digestion issues. We go through Facebook pages and I show him all of his friends and family daily. He gets angry when over stimulated so we do it several times a day. His aphasia is still our main concern. He tries so hard to communicate and gets frustrated/angry very quickly. I am picking up on some of his key phrases so its easier for me to relay info to his nurses and doctors as well as care for him. He looks in the mirror and gets so upset with his appearance. I keep reminding him that his hair will grow and cover his scars and that he is and will always be my handsome husband. He still struggles with relationships. He talks about his wife while I sit beside him. I also would like to let you know that our Moose Lodge ( Centreville Moose Lodge, located 3529 Chainbridge Road, Fairfax, Va). Is doing a fundraiser benefit to support Tom! Their efforts will help defray some costs associated with his care at two hospitals! There will be music, photo booth, raffles, etc. the benefit is Saturday, November 15 between 2-4 pm( if the info I have given is wrong, somebody please correct me). As always, Im humbled by all of your support! I know Tom is a very loved Man! It shows with all of your messages to him/us daily! Thank you for the continued prayers, support and Love!
