Update 10/26/13 The past week started out rough but gets better as time passes. Still having quite a bit of hip and femur pain in the evenings. Still havent barfed (yet). Went to Doc on Thu 10/24 do discuss my new chemo routine which is to start on Tue 10/29. The new routine is R-DHAP 28. You can google it. Nasty nasty stuff. I am scheduled for 3 sessions 28 days apart. To start off I go in on Tue for a few hours to get the first of the chemo, then go home. Go back the next morning for the rest of the “infusion” and stay in the hospital for about 3 days. Partly because some of the stuff is so strong they have to spread it out over 2 days so I can tolerate it and I will need to be under constant observation. Pretty hard side effects too. Three days is to make sure I am strong enough to leave. On the third day I get the Neulasta shot that causes the hip and leg pains I enjoy so much. I have to get tested every 4 days to check blood count and I am already scheduled for transfusions on the 5th day if the counts are too low. Oh joy, more fun for Dano. So, if you break out your calendar you will see that I will be spending 10/30-11/1 (Halloween), 11/27-11/29 (Thanksgiving) and 12/25-12/27 (Christmas) in the hospital. Maybe I can brighten up somebody elses day while Im there. On the bright side, Les wont have to make any huge holiday feasts. The food at the hospital actually is pretty good. They do have specials on holidays too. The menu is 4 pages like a regular restaurant menu and you can order as much as you want of anything on there. My meals come with the room (suite), Les can order off of the same menu but has to pay about $5.
