Update 10/5 This kid just keeps amazing me every day. Today we (just Jake and I) had a quiet morning spent watching a movie and eating breakfast...he actually got to sleep in, which, when you are at a hospital, means til about 8:00. After applying his medication to his scrapes we decided to get him out of bed, stretch and take a little walk around the halls. We stopped in the game room to play some air hockey. Shortly after we got there several of his buddies from school arrived to hang out for a while. They came with Panera and Dunkin Donuts, so Jake was thrilled! =) It was great seeing the boys (and girl) laughing and talking like they normally do. Later when Emily arrived we took a walk to the rooftop garden/playground and then down to the cafeteria. After that he had some more visitors and we watched the Panthers WIN! It was a pretty normal kind of day and I loved every minute of that normal day! Jakes face looks fantastic...I cannot believe that in one week it healed so well. His poor knees are still just so, so sore though. We continue to put medicine on him, but it is going to take them a while to heal completely because they were so damaged. Tomorrow he has a very full day of therapy...really he is going to therapy from 10am to 4pm with a few short breaks in between. At 11:00 he is meeting with the teacher that is going to give him a cognitive test of math and reading to see what we are dealing with cognitively. I am anxious to see those results. Other than that, its all Occupational, Physical, and Speech therapy! We are going to keep our fingers crossed that he makes a lot of progress this week so that he can MAYBE come home by the end of the week!! I just want him to be home in his own bed. =) I think we all have quite a lot of emotional healing to do as a family and having Jake at home and having us all together will be a big step in that healing process for Jamie, Jake, Emily, and I. Im not sure what the future holds for Jake, but I have to imagine that there is a plan for him and he is destined to do some great things. As usual, your continued prayers and support are appreciated. Thank you all!!
