Update! A little earlier we were able to relocate dad to Pisgah Manor which is a skilled nursing facility located here in Asheville. So thankful to now have him closer to home. Mom will be able to come and go without having to drive all the way across town. As for the facilities staff, so far everyone has been wonderful from the administrators to the nurses, rehab personnel and other staff members. It was also nice to hear that the staff meets every morning for devotions and prayer. Doesnt get much better than that. Thank you! We are grateful for the many prayers that each of you have lifted up at this time. God once again has delivered. So thanks for praying and please continue to keep dad on your prayer list. Moving on. Some of you have asked about visiting dad. No doubt, dad has poured his heart into many peoples lives for years and because of his love given to you some of you want to love him back. Nothing wrong with your desire to love on him and make a trip to see dad but right now we are asking everyone to simply pray for him and at the right time we will communicate when medical professionals, rehab and or therapist feel it is a good time for face to face visits. The doctors have been clear that he needs to rest. They have asked us to please tell everyone to hold off on making any visits. The next few weeks will be very important in making sure he gets plenty of rest. For now, do not hesitate to call, text and or email me and I will relay your messages to the family. And please keep in mind, if you have already called, emailed and or texted me and I havent replied then do not misunderstand the delay in response. I promise you I am not avoiding any of you, I have been unable to catch up on the missed calls, etc. therefore dont think I do not care because I do (smiling). I can assure you that we are grateful for your words of encouragement. Even if I do not reply you can rest in knowing your effort to reach us means so much. I cannot even begin to tell you how you have made me smile by what you have left in a text message or post on my wall or by email. You guys are the sweetest people I know. Feel free to keep the messages coming! Footnote! Dad has already successfully eaten a lunch diet of pureed food. He has smiled several times since arriving and is now sound asleep. He also met his therapist about two hours ago, Victor, Derf and Tamara. All three were very kind and well aware of the steps that need to be taken to slowly move dad in the right direction. Everyone here will be monitoring dads progress on a day to day basis. Only the Lord knows the future therefore we will continue to lean on Him.
