Update: Agenda for Dover District Council Cabinet Meeting 3rd - TopicsExpress

Update: Agenda for Dover District Council Cabinet Meeting 3rd February 2013 This morning, I have been down the agenda for next Mondays cabinet meeting looking to see if the public consultation for the proposed Public Spaces Protection Orders are up for discussion and it does not appear, so it looks like this may roll over to the March meeting. Their is, however, a rather interesting idea that is up for discussion. For those of you who attended the meeting at The Lighthouse back in July, you may recall that I spoke about how fines for dog fouling do not work alone (only 12 fines handed out in a 3 year period!) and that the council should be a little more creative in its thinking by using the dog training technique of rewarding the good behaviour by providing a prize draw for people that do pick up after their dogs... Well, it looks like, Dover Town Hall has provided funding for a 12 month pilot scheme in the Dover Town wards for this to happen. The suggestion is that cards are issued to those seen picking up after their dogs and these details would be entered into a prize draw with the reward of a £25 shopping voucher. I shall be writing to both Deal Town Hall and Walmer Parish Council today to see if their is any chance of them getting behind this creative approach to an old problem and extending this proposed pilot scheme.
