Update: Candace had three lovely hours of kangaroo care with Jacob. She said they both slept the whole time. The second opinion on the MRI came back and the radiologist agrees with the neurologist that there will be some residual damage to Jacob from the traumatic birth. Candace said that his pressurized oxygen was turned down to four from five today so they are a little closer to being able to breastfeed him. But it needs to be completely off for bottle or breast to occur. Pray that they can continue to wean the oxygen off. The lady that tests Jacobs reflexes was greatly encouraged today as he can lift his little head now which is a very encouraging sign and he sucks hard on his pacifier, another really encouraging sign. His limbs on his right side appear to be weaker than his left but only time will tell. Pray for continued improvement in the tone and strength of his limbs. His feedings through the nasal gastric tube were able to be increased today as he is absorbing his food. So excited about this! His next MRI will be Monday or Tuesday and will help to either confirm or dis affirm the neurologists thoughts. Please pray for Candace as she is dealing with a lot of pain, so much that walking is difficult. Pray that the infection she has is dealt with by the antibiotics she is on and does not get worse over the weekend as she waits for her Monday appointment. Pray for Matt as he is feeling a tickle in his throat, that this doesnt turn into a cold since they dont allow colds into the NICU, also please pray Candace is protected from viruses too. Prayers as they go home to rest early today that rest will do its work! Thank you everyone for all your prayers, words of encouragement and offers of help. You have all been so wonderful. I cant even begin to express my awe at the love and grace that has been and continues to be displayed. Love to you all.
