Update Cody: Arrived in Gardner in time to welcome Cody back to the rehab hospital. Cody had spent a little time at Olathe Med. The balloon that holds his G tube in had somehow blocked the small intestine. In turn this would be the cause of Codys vomiting. The blood that was in the vomit was believed to be from an ulcer. A later scope would reveal that the acid build up had caused the majority of the irritation. All therapy depts would use today for reevaluation. Pt showed up at ten and they started with some stretches and chair transfers. The best part of PT was watching Cody hold his head without assistance for a full minute. Generally he can maintain head control for 5-10 seconds. During the transfer from bed to chair we noticed Cody pushing with his left leg. He would use his left arm to steady (with help from therapy) into the chair. We have noticed thru the day that he is moving his right arm and leg. We spent the afternoon working on tracking and simple commands. He was actually awake for the better part of the day. Mondays are generally weigh in days but Cody was gone so they needed that updated weight. Proud to announce that the kid is working his way up thru the weights at 118 lbs. Last week we video taped Cody given kisses to the cheeks. This week not only more kisses but thumbs up and thumbs down commands 9 out of 10 times. We were also blessed today with three smiles from Cody. We all know this is a long road but we are prepared for the long haul. Keep pushn, pulln and prayn thank you Lord for a great day.
