Update: Day 182 Parker has had a good week overall. They are continuing to do dip tastes with him daily and offering a bottle, but he hasnt taken any more volume through the bottle since the first time a couple of weeks ago. Hes usually either too gaggy (from withdrawal) or being too social (he loves to flirt with the nurses and therapists) or hes just not interested in taking it. I asked the team about trying solids and they agreed that its age appropriate, wont hinder bottle attempts, and worth trying. Weve been giving him sweet potatoes for a few days and hes doing great! He hasnt had any negative response to them and almost seemed to be enjoying them yesterday afternoon. He was working harder to breath and needing more oxygen a couple of days ago but they increased his diuretics and it resolved. Hes still battling withdrawal but no more than to be expected. Since hes been back with the CDH team, theyve made adjustments to his calories and vitamins and his weight gain has been steady and consistent. Hes on the right track and making good progress.
