Update Friday 10/3 @ 2:15pm Since I have a few minutes I thought Id go ahead and send my update for the day. I stayed with Jake last night...we both slept pretty well. In the middle of the night I heard a sound and looked over to find him trying to pull off all of his hospital bracelets. =) I told him he couldnt mess with them and we both went back to sleep. We woke up around 7:30 when the craziness started. Jonathan Mooney was here at the crack of dawn with hot chocolate for Jake and I and some breakfast sandwiches from DD. Shortly after he came in the nurse brought some medicine for Jake, the social worker came to talk to me and the nurse came back to change Jakes bandages. His breakfast was also delivered...this was all before 8:45 am. Jakes day was supposed to be busy, but they even added more to his plate. Here are some things he did today: *9-9:30 Speech with Grace- started a memory book and played some games like name 4 things that are soft, what category would the following be in: carrot, corn, celery *9:30-10:30 Physical therapy with Christina-Jake went for a long walk, played Zoomball, played cornhole, did a lot of stretching and rode the stationary bike. *10:30-11:00 Lunch *11:00-12:00 Occupational therapy with Emily- they played Bocce Ball with the Recreational therapist and played ladderball. Jake also worked on putting his shoes on and tying them and brushing his teeth. 12:00-12:30 SURPRISE! Jake got EXTRA therapy with Elizabeth! She had him on the treadmill for 5 minutes of walking and helped him learn to climb the stairs. 1:00-1:30 SURPRISE AGAIN!!! MORE PT with Christine- They played basketball on the Wii, working on bending his knees and staying balanced while standing 1:30-2:00 School with Theresa- NO, not even getting hit by a van will get you out of school for the week!!!! Today we mainly discussed the plan for Jake when he returns to school. She will be doing an assessment on Monday to see how much damage this accident has done and what we need to do to get him back to normal. She will be contacting the school to facilitate his return, when that happens. 3:00-3:30 SURPRISE AGAIN!!!!!! EVEN MORE PT with Christine- more Wii- working on walking and bending the knees and balance. All in all it has been a VERY busy day, but Jake is making progress more and more each day. Tomorrow we hope to get outside for a walk (Jake in a wheelchair) if the weather is good. He will have some therapy tomorrow, but it will be a much lighter schedule. I have had some people asking to visit, which is fine. Just text me or FB message me if you are coming so that I can tell you when we will be in the room. =) Dr. Tsai said today that Jake looks so good that it is POSSIBLE that he MIGHT be able to be home by the end of next week!! We will keep our fingers crossed that that is the case!! Keep the prayers coming. Thanks so much for the support!
