Update January 1, 2015 (5 Months Old): Happy 5 months to our sweet baby Chase! He weighs 8 lbs. 13 ounces and is 21 inches long, what a difference 5 months can make! His adjusted age is 9 weeks so we’re currently working on milestones for a 9 weeker! Our little man loves to be held and the word love may be an understatement. He is such a good little sleeper, he’s technically sleeping through the night but his bedtime could be moved up a little earlier! While being pregnant, he was the most active around 9-10ish at night, which still fits perfectly with his big personality! Perhaps one of my absolute favorite things about being a Mom is seeing Chase’s face light up when he sees Andy after he was gone at work all day. Andy can make that boy smile like no other, they are definitely 2 peas in a pod. Because of Chase’s birth rate, he qualifies for receiving Synagis, which is a medication, used to prevent RSV. He is still on oxygen and apnea monitor but with his last appointment in Iowa City, they were so happy with his progress they were predicting he could possibly go off oxygen late January! We’re keeping our fingers crossed because he is beginning to really get annoyed with the cannula! It’s a very much love hate relationship with the oxygen/monitors. We LOVE and respect the fact that he needs it but man it can become quite a circus act walking around without tripping on the cords! Chase is happiest when he’s in his birthday suit or when he’s soaking in the tub. He puts on his pouty face while doing tummy time or not being held. On one hand we cannot wait to see what Chase does next but on the other hand, we wish time would stand still. Being a parent is hands down the greatest most incredible thing that has ever happened to us. Because of Chase and his beautiful life, we are humbled by Gods gift to us and remember how precious it is with each passing second.
