Update: Katrina Beers has had her trachea removed today!!! This is a step in the right direction, finally! Her nurse, Brian, who we all adore, hasnt seen her in a week - he said that he has seen major improvement in her. He instructed her to squeeze his hand on command, and she did it not once, but twice! For those whove been visiting - youll be happy to know that the other nurse we adore, Colleen, shaved Katrinas legs! :) Kat will be happy about that. If everything goes well with her swallowing reflexes, they will start feeding her, and we can get rid of the feeding tube!! They will actually put a dye in and track the food to see if shes swallowing it all the way down. Maybe in a week or so!! It seems like such little progress to some, but to us, its HUGE. Devin talked about Christmas the other day, he figured Mom wouldnt be back yet, but he wants to ask the doctors if she can come home, just for Christmas.
