Update Monday (10.20.14) 11:00pm You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. Psalm 4:7 My heart truly overflows tonight. Seeing Shelly on that catwalk stirred up so much emotion in me. I took as many pictures as my phone would take through blurry, tear filled eyes. I am so proud of her. She has worked so hard to regain so much already. My heart just burst when I watched her walk up on that stage. There were two sweet ladies that sat beside me, didnt know me or Shelly. We were chatting before the show started so they knew my wife was a model tonight, but they didnt have a clue about her story. They said, Be sure to point her out to us. I replied, watch me, you will be able to tell when its her turn. Shellys group walked up and I immediately got choked up. I felt a tear escape and run down my face. I leaned over and said, shes the beautiful one in the peach dress. Both the ladies said wow in a surprising manner. Not sure if they were surprised that I could get a girl that hot, or what, but either way, they were impressed. The beard does leave people wondering at times. As they called Shellys name they begin telling her story. I can barely remember what was said because I was so overwhelmed by the moment. I just remember about half the room standing up and clapping for her. She is a miracle. She is my miracle. And we both thank God for that daily. While they were telling her story I felt one of the ladies put her hand on my shoulder. I had not even noticed how hard I was crying. I was just so happy. Overwhelmed by joy. I cannot say enough thank yous to the Northeast Foundation for allowing us to be a part of their night. It meant the world to us. Being able to start to give back in any shape or form helps us feel like we are on the other side of this fight. We are now paying it forward. We look forward to a life time of opportunities to give back. This community reached into our lives and blessed us at a moment when we needed it the most. We are honored to be able to begin, even in the smallest of ways, to repay it. The best part, we get to do the whole thing again tomorrow night! Plan for tomorrow night begins by sitting in a better location to get pictures up close. I also plan to video while they are telling her story. I will be sure to share. Hopefully I can get better control of my emotions so my vision is as blurry. The day now ends in the best way possible, snuggling time with my girls. We are in our own apartment, snuggled up in our own bed. So many prayers answered, so many dreams a reality. God took us through the fire, and now He blesses us beyond our imaginations. We thank you Lord for your many blessings.
