Update: Ok... my friend just got off the phone with the police department. The abuser is at the station now and because of his criminal history... agreed to let my friend have the dog!!! I dont know whats going to happen to the abuser, but the dog is safe and there is no worry about having to go back to him!! ----------------------------------- original posting... Animal abuse! Legal question!! PLEASE respond if you know! A very good friend of mine was contacted about a dog being abused. She went to the location and witnessed the dog being abused while the mother stood by... pleading with her son to give the dog to my friend. The abuser was holding her up by one hind leg as all of this was going on. Eventually, he gave the dog to my friend. During the assault, he broke her leg... poked her in the ear with a stick so hard, it ruptured her ear drum and threw her on the ground and held her there. She is 12lbs. My friend took her immediately to her vet in Bossier Parish where all the injuries were confirmed. This is where it gets ABSURD!... Doing what she thought was the right thing to do, my friend contacted the Shreveport Police Department. Now, they want her to bring the dog to the police station and give the dog BACK to the abuser!!! They want the dog back in Caddo... I presume to avoid getting Bossier involved. This is totally and completely unacceptable!!! Does anyone with any knowledge of this type of situation have any advise?? Please respond ASAP!
