Update: Ryan is resting now. Still a tough road ahead, however Harmoni is an amazing blessing. Wit Latest hout Bob here and 3 1/2 hours away it isnt easy. I am thankful Shelbi was with me too. We thought Ryan was going to have surgery at 3 today. The surgeon gave two options. Option #1: surgery today, make a long vertical incision in the abdomin, take out the ruptured appendix, along with a possible partial colonictomy, because his appendix was like a bomb and they would be cleaning up the pieces, could result in needing a bag on his side for 6 to 8 weeks or more and then possibly another surgery later on or Option #2: 5 to 7 days in the hospital with heavy antibiotics through his IV, if his body responds and starts to repair itself and fight the huge mass of infection and inflammation, he could go home with oral antibiotics, be monitored, and return for another cat scan to see if healing has occurred enough to remove the appendix laparoscopically. So he choose option #2. As long as his body accepts the antibiotics no emergency surgey however if his body refuses the treatment then surgery is still possible under option#1. So Ryan is at Med Central in room 4102. He is still struggling and in pain, just not as much. He cannot eat or drink and hasnt since Sunday when he ate an apple. Prayers are appreciated!
