Update STELLA: Race simulation day 1 Today Solar Team Eindhoven completed the first day of the race simulation. A two-day trip 8 times up and down the Cox Peninsula Road, to simulate the circumstances during the World Solar Challenge. The preparations started yesterday in the afternoon, by packing all the necessary tools and by updating the software for the final time. As always during engineering projects, software problems occurred close to the deadline, but Stella was ready to go for the two-day trip. https://facebook/media/set/?set=a.456909957762188.1073741831.263850547068131&type=1 Fortunately, the team has already learned a valuable lesson right from the start: shut down the low-voltage battery when you finish working. Stella wouldn’t start and the spare battery needed to be installed which caused a delay of several minutes. The rest of the day, Stella was cruising at constant speed over 60km/h and the Strategy department had a nice change to validate their predictions and to spot errors. The weather turned out to be a bit worse in the morning, so the team needed to adapt to the circumstances. Now, the team has set up their camping for the night and is definitely ready for another day of successful testing.
