Update: The Mesenchymal Stem Cells seem to be working!!! The fevers came back and he still spikes fevers daily, but the cultures are not coming back positive (YEAH!!!) and the doc seems to think they are related to his Interleukin (IL-2) levels being seven times the level they should be at. They think this is due to him eating and causing more inflammation. The plan is to start coming down on the pain meds and add in an oral med that will help resolve any nerve receptor issues that they believe is contributing to the pain. They are planning on doing a CT scan next week and he is due for his next bone marrow aspiration to check for MRD, as well. Overall, he is still in pain, but they are attributing it to issues that can be resolved with psycho-therapy, the new med they are trying, alternative medicine, and parental input. He still cant walk because the IV in his foot digs in, hurts and bleeds when he does. I make him stand daily...get out of bed and sit on the couch. The nurses and doctors here have been wonderful and I truly believe his care is going well. I have learned so much. Thank you all so much for the cards and care packages. He is very proud to show off his collection of cards...they are taking up two walls in his room. He is especially enjoying the ones with jokes! The most important info of all is he seems to be getting better!!! Thank you for the prayers and well wishes!
