Update: The doctors have been slowly waking Mike up today. Hes still mostly out of it. He still has a breathing tube with ventilator and now an NG tube for nourishment. But if you shout his name, he opens his eyes. If you tell him to wiggle his fingers & toes, he does. His progress is very slow, but going in the right direction. They will do some scans of his heart tomorrow evening to determine if any more invasive procedures seem necessary. (Even though the clot is in his lung, the concern all along has been whether his heart could pump hard enough to force blood past the clot. If his heart is showing signs of failure, then theyll have to get more aggressive with his treatment.) Obviously the hope is that hell be able to keep healing on his own. I spent the day doing back-to-school stuff with the girls, so I havent seen him since last night. But his mom put the phone up to his ear so I could just say hi to him, and she said he raised his eyebrows (eyes still closed) when he heard my voice. Thats more coherent than he was last night.
