Update: The holidays did not mean a rest in our dear Cassie fighting this thing. There were a few obstacles course we had to navigate. First, the perm catheter that had been inserted into Cassies body developed a kink and so it needed to be replaced. The procedure seemed to go fine, but during recovery, we had a little scare when doctors could not seem to stop the bleeding and it continued to soak through all bandages. It was later explained that Cassies condition may cause her to have issues when it comes to clotting correctly. She was able to receive the second of three steroid treatments to contain the underlying issue that caused the kidney failure. Doctors hope that once she receives all three treatments, her body will be ready to accept a transplant and will begin the screening process for donors. The third treatment is expected in approximately 1.5 weeks. Cassie continues to get her dialysis 3-4 times a week. Though she has had some bumps, for the most part she is in good spirits and thanks to God was able to be home with her family for Christmas!
