Update: The roller coaster continues over here. James has been up - TopicsExpress

Update: The roller coaster continues over here. James has been up and down for the last two days. He has good hours and bad hours. I wasnt able to get the consistency of his new batch of food correct and couldnt get it to go through the pump. As much as I didnt want to, I ended up giving him one and a half meals of the formula he was on prior to our home made formulas. He did not respond well to it at all. It reminded me of our first weeks home with a lot of gas. You could literally push his belly and feel the gas move. We havent had gas issues since he has been on his home made formula so it was very obvious to me that thats what caused it. James has still been having bowel movements daily and peeing on his own. Last night we were told to that we would likely be discharged in the morning so I got all of our stuff together for a quick departure. James struggled through the night with a lot of stomach discomfort and didnt sleep much. I did my best to comfort him but the pains came in waves. He would be so uncomfortable for 5 minutes and then it would stop and he would fall asleep for 30 minutes. When morning came, he finally was able to fall asleep but then all the nurses and doctors started coming in to do their rounds. Finally, our nurse put a sign on James door not to enter. He got about an hour nap and then my parents arrived. My mom laid with James and I went back to bed (not sure how long it was). During this time, I missed all of the doctors who came to see James. I just wanted to know what our exit strategy was. When I woke up, the doctor came back in to discuss what we were going to do. The plan was to give his nightly antibiotic earlier in the day so James could be discharged at around 4:00. Sounded good to me, I went to downstairs to grab a slice of pizza. When I came back, my mom said they just finished an abdominal X-ray. We waited about an hour and the doctor came back in (it was now about 2:00). I anticipated she was telling us we would be starting the antibiotic but I was wrong. She came to tell me that the X-ray came back and James still had a moderate amount of stool in his belly. How? I have no idea. He has probably pooped his equivalent in weight since we have been here. The X-ray only showed MILD changes. She was only able to make minor modifications for tonight but we will consult the GI doctor again in the morning. So it looks like we will be staying all weekend as well. James has been having a tough time getting over this constipation but we will get to the bottom of it. Hopefully once he is all cleared out, he will feel so much better and it will help in therapy as well. Praying for a lot more poop this weekend!!!!!!! 🙏💩 #turtlepower 🐢👊 Jenna
