Update To My Comment This Morning About Last Nights Show and Leaving Facebook For Awhile: All Of You Who Have Responded: Sarah, Russell, Barry, Andy, Jon, Cynthia, Terry, Carole, Janet, Thomas, Rick, Mae, Bill, Steve, Sandra, Nancy, Mick, Jeff, Sharon, Bob, Lillian, Katherine, Ruth and Patricia - I really do thank you all for your comments - I do appreciate them. But I feel I need to explain what Im feeling right now so that all of you can understand exactly where I am coming from. First off, I am the one who arranged, booked and promoted last nights concert. All of the financial responsibilites rely on my shoulders. I spent weeks on Facebook promoting this show with posters and music from my CD. Seth and I even made an apperance on our local TV station a few weeks before the show. Plus the local newspaper the Sanford Herald surprised us and listed in their Calendar of events for the week. On three different occasions . . . I spent hours going thru my friends list of over 2500 people and sent Personal Invites to all who lived close enough to Sanford to attend this show. I had quite a few people who said they were coming to the show. Several were not able to attend and let me know in advance why and I understood their situation. But out of 885 INVITES ( and eachinvited more than three times ) - We had a grand total of 12 People show up. Espeically when you consider the auditorium holds over 300 people. I Was Not Surprised That The Turnout Was Low . . . Im just surprised by WHO did not turn up. I have some very close music friends in this town who did not even make the effort to show up or let me and Seth know they were not planning to attend. There is no point sending out invites on Facebook if nobody even acknowledges whether or not they plan to attend. Plus, two days before showtime . . . I personally gave away free tickets as Christmas gifts and guess what . . . Only two of those who got free tickets even showed up. Now, I just want you to know, Im not that upset that people didnt show up . . . Im upset because this is supposedly my hometown area and it is just one more example of why local musicians who live here do not even attempt to play in Sanford anymore. Oh yeah, they do the free shows at Depot Park and things for Susan at Buchanans ( who is trying her best to get a music scene going here ). But as for paying gigs, Sanford offers nothing for our local music community and thats one of the main reasons our singers and musicians play elsewhere instead of their hometowns. If they depended on Sanford to make a living - they would starve to death. Me and my guys in Hellhound Trail have played to packed clubs over the years and I have done solo shows with packed rooms . . . but none of them were in Sanford We made a big effort this year to try and consentrate on the Sanford area . . . not just for us . . . But for all of our music friends. Even on nights we were plyaing a show and could not go . . . we sent our support and tried to let people know about their shows too. LIke I Said, Its more about Sanford than anything else but in truth, I really wonder how much longer I want to play music anymore. Right now I dont have the heart or desire and I dont really feel like posting music on Facebook or doing much of anything. Hope you all understand a little bit better now
