Update: Today we are hunkering down a little bit. Trajens ANC is very low and he is at risk for any little bug anyone might be carrying around. He was labeled severely neutropenic at the clinic on Thursday where he also received both platelets and red blood cells. Of course, with neutropenia for Trajen, comes mucositis. It seems like the one always follows the other. Last night I was very worried but he seems to have pulled through- again, thanks to that sesame oil! Heres an example: I gave him Biotene (part of our prescribed routine) to swish in his mouth last night, which caused severe pain and a lot of tears. I gave him sesame oil immediately following and had him swish for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes, I gave him the Biotene again. No tears, no pain. Like Ive said before, I dont understand it, but I am grateful for it! Anytime we can sleep in our own beds, Trajen is a much happier boy!
