Update Tuesday Sept.30 5:19pm Prayer works and is working. Tiffany McCullock has been talking quite a bit and right now most of it is random. She has kept us entertained all day. Some of the things she says and the facial expressions are hilarious. We definitely see Tiffany in her speech and actions. She is bringing up things that were going on before the accident and concerns we were dealing with at home. I’m glad to hear her remembering but do not want her to worry about anything. There are moments where I’m hurt that she is struggling to remember or articulate but then I’m just glad she is here and talking. We just keep telling her things over and over to help bring back memories and keep reassuring her everything is ok. This morning therapy came in and got her sitting up on the side of the bed and was going too put her in a chair. This was hard for Tiffany. She seemed frightened and confused by this experience. They worked with her some and decided to put her back in the bed and sit her up straight. They tried some different things like holding a cup and holding a spoon. She took the cup of water (with some assistance) took 3 or 4 big sips through the straw and said “WOW!” You could tell she really enjoyed this. They handed her the chocolate ice creme and spoon she said, “this looks like something I need to do”. Then she ate a few bites of chocolate ice cream while holding the spoon and putting it in her mouth. It was wobbly but she did it! When they get her up like this it’s like dropping her in cold water. She gets more alert and seems to get more clear. There are still some bowel issues and the docs and nurses are working to get this resolved. Her heart rate has been coming down and seems to be getting more normal. She had an Ultrasound this morning checking for blood clots in her legs and it was clear. The discharge lady said she could be going to rehab soon. Since the feeding tube is in she can get nutrition and once we get the bowel issues resolved she will be heading to a rehab facility that specializes in Traumatic Brain Injuries. Amy Jackson is staying with her tonight so Nick and I can go home and get some rest. Bless you all for your prayers and support!
