A three-year-old boy has died after being taken by his father from the familys Adelaide home, police say. The boys mother rang police about 8.25 am (CST) on Tuesday, saying he had been taken by his father from their Stepney home. The mother of the child reported she was concerned about the safety of her child, Inspector Seamus McDaid told reporters. At about 9am, police were attending an unrelated crash scene at Athelstone when a man drove up to them and said his son was injured. Police found the boy in the family car and he was rushed to the Adelaide Womens and Childrens Hospital where he died. Inspector McDaid said the father, who had minor injuries, was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital. He will be spoken to by police. It is a tragic set of circumstances and our sympathies go out to the family, he said. It was also a difficult incident for the police and ambulance officers. Inspector McDaid said the boy was seriously injured but he could not confirm he had stab wounds.
