Update for Rescues: Rescues are the heart of the Ottawa Pet Expo. Everyone knows this. If we could have confirmed a booth for every single rescue and animal welfare non-profit that applied to the show to this point, we would have. That said, to offer a balanced show for the public, the reality is that we can only allow so many into the event week-by-week as the event grows. We need to offer a show with wide variety (rescues, retailers, kennels, food manufacturers, etc.), and there is a process to it. We have actively tried to communicate this process to all organizations, asking for patience as we are given the ability to add more rescues (who we LOVE) as we lead up to the incredibly busy work that is the Ottawa Pet Expo. That said, we entirely understand and appreciate the frustration of not knowing as the event approaches, but wed rather offer up more spaces to rescues as the event approaches instead of saying we couldnt accommodate them earlier on. This years show is double the size, and it is taking double the coordination to bring Ottawas pet lovers the best show possible, but it is looking fantastic and we respect the patience of the handful of rescues who have not yet been given the green light. Sincerely, we are doing what we can and love you all for your hard work. Those who know us well know that we are quite generous to the rescue community, which we are thrilled to do and continue to do. Of course the event is getting close, but we aim for this to be a good news story of more rescues given spaces last minute because the show grew so much and not rescues denied booths because there was an overflow of applications. Again, rescues are the heart of our event - we talk about this nearly every day in the office - and were supporting as many as we possibly can, as quickly as we can.
