Update from Crowley regarding the Miami: As further update to the incident with voyage SAL4027S, the tug PATRIARCH with barge MIAMI in tow are in the Bahamas Northwest Providence Channel approximately 40 miles from Freeport heading due east making headway and minimizing wind impact to the fire. The status of the crew remains safe and unchanged. The Titan Salvage contracted tug SVITZER OWL continues to conduct boundary cooling with their fire fighting system. Latest observations and photos from the tug PATRIARCH and subsequent aerial photos this afternoon do not show any flames. The smoke from the fire has also diminished significantly in volume and also arrived today and is providing additional firefighting water streams to the barge. The future routing of the vessel will be determined once the heat signature of the fire is confirmed to be out and the extent of any damage is more clearly color. An additional Svitzer workboat is on site with a five person hazardous materials response team and equipment. The FiFi Tug SVITZER LUCAYA arrived on site at approximately 1200 today and is providing additional firefighting water to the upper barge deck. The Tug SMIT LORRIE understood. Additional information will be shared when it becomes available.
