Update from Dan Smith: SPECIAL NOTE: The season is winding-down. Next Saturday, January 25th, is the MIC Conference Championship Tournament at Warren Central High School. Dress warm and dont plan on bringing a cooler up into the stands. SPECIAL-SPECIAL NOTE: The day after, Sunday, January 26th, is the annual NC Wrestling Team/Family Dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings (the 86th Street and Township Line Road, Willow Lake location). The Team and Coaches/Family will be there about 6:00 PM, so come and meet them! RESULTS - WARREN CENTRAL: State-Ranked #8, and when all their wrestlers show-up, a formidable top-to-bottom team ... We lost to Warren Central 0-70. They will be the team-to-beat at MIC next Saturday. RESULTS - NC QUAD: State-Ranked #17 Carmel handled State-Ranked #16 Bellmont to finish 5-0. Bellmont was second at 4-1, followed by Lawrence North (3-2), Center Grove (2-3), North Central (1-4), and Bishop Chatard (0-5). Our North Central Panthers were the youngest squad in my memory. Illness, injury, poor grades and Varsity wrestlers who decided to leave the program opened-the-door for many young men to get valuable Varsity experience. NC started by continuing our domination over Bishop Chatard. After that, points were hard-to-come-by. HIGHLIGHTS: NOTE: Well face Bishop Chatard and Lawrence North at Sectionals, the most important event of the season. Mitchell Kessler (JR 285) - Mitchell finished 4-1, with a nail-biting 2-0 Decision against Bishop Chatard and a come-from-behind PIN against Lawrence North. Mitchell also PINNED Carmel (for the second time), and PINNED Bellmont, for our only points in those two matches. Peter Nickelsberg (SR 152) - Peter finished 2-3. He started with a PIN against Bishop Chatard and finished with a heart-breaking 3-4 loss to Lawrence North. In between he dominated Center Grove for a 10-3 Decision. Peters father and I agreed that his best match was against Lawrence North, and we cant wait for the re-match(es). Landon Bridges (JR 220) - Landon finished 2-3, with a PIN against Bishop Chatard and an exciting 4-3 Decision against Center Grove. He also wrestled tough against Carmel and Lawrence North. Walter Haire (FR 195) - Walters first four matches were disappointing losses, but he didnt give-up and Decisioned Lawrence North 6-5. OTHER HIGHLIGHTS: Kian Shirazi (FR 106) - Kian dominated Bishop Chatard 10-2. Adam Faler (FR 120) - Adam Decisioned Bishop Chatard 4-2, and wrestled tough (six minutes), against Center Grove. Elijah Glover (SO 126) - Elijah PINNED Bishop Chatard, and wrestled tough against Center Grove and Bellmont. Venu Bangla (SR 132) - Venu dominated Bishop Chatard 9-1. FORFEITS: Woody Allen once said, Eighty percent of success is showing up. So we wont go into the forfeits. Dan Smith (1969 HWT) Phone & Fax: 317-896-5915 Cell: 317-554-7151 Email: dansmith554@msn
