Update from Itai Dzamara - Occupy Africa Unity Square Champion WE ARE STILL OCCUPYING AFRICA UNITY SQUARE : KEY QUESTIONS ANSWERED * We do not have plans to form a political party, out of our mission and initiative. We believe there are enough political parties in Zimbabwe. We, in fact, have quickly attracted the participation and backing of Zimbabweans belonging to various political parties. We expect political parties to play their role in the search for a solution to the national crisis. * Our focus remains that of bringing together Zimbabweans, from all backgrounds, to combine efforts and voices in demanding an end to the national crisis and further push for engagement of all national stakeholders to search for a workable leadership and governance plan. Just a week into implementing our mission, we have already been overwhelmed and encouraged by the committed and willing desire by many Zimbabweans, to participate and back this mission. Even the state has quickly become aware of the significance and impact of our mission. We however continue calling on the state to, rather than respond with paranoia and agitation, listen to the genuine concerns and expression by law abiding citizens, out to exercise their constitutional rights. * We absolutely have no plans nor desire to plan or take part in an uprising of any sort. We actually do not believe such a plan would solve the national crisis. We do not support at all any calls of plans for uprising or violent means either against, or on behalf of, the Zanu PF regime. * We shall always pursue civil, peaceful and resolute means that conform with the constitution to make our demands and protests until we get what we want. * We are not on a money making project. That is why we have not made any fund raising plans or efforts. We believe and have so far succeeded in making sacrifices, together with other Zimbabweans, to implement our mission. Yes, this is about Zimbabweans and for us. We are capable of uniting and achieve our goals. * Our take off has been highly successful. We rolled out our mission in civil, peaceful and resolute ways, proving beyond doubt that we are totally committed to upholding our guiding principles. We have proved to have the nerve and discipline for withstanding attempts by the state to intimidate or violate civil rights for the purpose of frustrating our mission. * Our arrival has been announced. Mugabe and the state now know what we want, and that we are determined. We are determined and resolved to push ahead with our very genuine mission and shall prove that; We are the people!
