Update from Jason 10/22 at midnight!!! Sorry for the late night update. Despite starting out with a bad headache this morning, Christie had a busy Tuesday. It started out with a bath and lots of smell goods. She had several friends stop by to check on her. PT/OT got her out of bed, into the hallway, where she took several steps with their help. Rumor has it she even gave her boss Julie a kiss and said her name. Jennifer and Candy came up from the CVICU and washed and re-braided her hair. She is also sporting a stylish headband from her cousin Callie. And then there was late this evening. I guess she wanted to have some fun so she started pressing the call button on the remote. Lindsay would come in and check on her and she wouldnt need anything. After a couple of times, I had to take the remote away from her. At one point she waived me over to the side of her bed. She reached for my hand and whispered to me that she will be okay and that she is proud of me. I told her that I was more proud of her and to keep fighting. She said okay. Talk about a moment that makes you tear up. However as soon as I sat down to write some more notes, she immediately pulled out her entire feeding tube. Personally, I think she planned that out and I fell for it. The night ended with me watching the nurses re-insert a new feeding tube. Boy will I get an earful from her about that one. Keep the prayers coming!!! She is doing an awesome job.
